Krampus is Coming to South Huntsville

Huntsville, AL – The South Huntsville Main Business Association is proud to announce its first 5K road race that will take place along Elgie’s Walk Greenway at the new Hays Farm development at Noon on December 18. 2021. The race will start in Grissom High School’s parking lot and continue down Haysland Road before winding back through the Greenway. This inaugural event will bring the German tradition of Krampus to South Huntsville and is the brainchild of Mark Stahl, owner of Das Stahl Bierhaus.

“We wanted to create something unique for South Huntsville. Drawing from Huntsville’s heritage and Austrian folklore we developed the Krampus 5K,” says Stahl. “Krampus is one of St. Nickolas’ helpers. While St. Nick rewards the good children, it’s Krampus’ job to dole out the punishments. Our 5K fun run is a tongue-n-cheek take on the Krampuslauf – literally a ‘Krampus Run’. We look forward to seeing you at our family friendly 5k.”

Krampus Run registration is $30 in advance and increases to $35 on the day of the race. Registration includes a snack from South Huntsville’s new food truck, Heavenly Sinwiches, and a memento from Krampus to hang on your Christmas tree! Join us after the race at Das Stahl Bierhaus for photos with Krampus and the release of a Krampus-themed beer brewed by Straight to Ale.
