Ditto Landing Announces Major Renovation Project

Huntsville, AL— October 16, 2023 — Today at a press conference, Commissioner Phil Riddick announced a major renovation of the State Docks Building at Ditto Landing.

“These renovations will serve as our legacy project for the citizens of Madison County,” said Riddick, Madison County District Five Commissioner. The $10,000,000 Ditto Landing Redevelopment promises to usher in a new era of possibilities for the area, complementing Huntsville’s diverse offerings in music events, recreation, and leisure destinations. “We are excited to introduce this ambitious project, a transformative initiative aimed at revitalizing an existing 2.5-acre space into a vibrant outdoor destination,” stated Riddick. Most of the funding for this project will be from Commissioner Riddick’s budget.

“The renovations of the state dock building into a truly unique event space is the first major step towards our Master Plan we unveiled a few years ago,” said Brandi Quick, Executive Director, HSV-Madison County Marina & Port Authority. “We expect this to bring thousands of new visitors to Ditto Landing for weddings, family reunions, conferences, and other large gatherings.  We are grateful for the opportunity to highlight Huntsville’s home at the midpoint of the Tennessee River.”

City Councilwoman Jennie Robinson also spoke at the event earlier today, “Ditto Landing has long been a hidden gem in our community. The City is committed to helping more people discover the beauty of the Tennessee River by investing in new access roads and greenways at Ditto Landing. We support the new master plan and are proud of our partnership with the Ditto Board and the County Commission.”

“Ditto Landing is one of the most picturesque locations in Madison County.  The location has many uses and provides a great get away for individuals and families.  Commissioner Phil Riddick, the Madison County Commission and the Ditto Landing Team are investing in this Ditto Landing Project,” stated Chairman Mac McCutcheon. “Commissioner Riddick has stated, this project is about quality of life, and I totally agree. Please, please, please landscape the property with ONLY NATIVE plant species. This property is Alabama land…please keep it pristine with plants from Alabama. I am begging you to do this for the health of our forests, waterways, and the animals that utilize them.
