Join South Huntsville Main and Commissioner Phil Riddick for an afternoon full of lively Bluegrass music at Southside Park on Chaney Thompson Road!  This year’s event will feature one of Alabama’s most cherished bluegrass bands, Three on a String.  The group Another Town will perform again at this year’s event, with Justin & Angelica Branum added to the lineup.  Grab your picnic blanket or chair and enjoy some amazing music in South Huntsville!

THREE ON A STRING

Three on a Strings is one of Alabama’s most beloved bands and have been entertaining audiences in the Untied States and Canada for decades. In 2021, Three on a String celebrated 50 years in the entertainment business, a remarkable feat in today’s fast changing society.

Jerry and Bobby performed as a duet for one show at Horse Pens 40 near Steel, AL in 1971. George Pruitt, a big band music veteran suggested they add a bass and thus Three on a String was born. Three on a String have opened for Presidents George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and several Alabama Governors. This eventually evolved into performances with symphony orchestras in several states including a nine city tour with the Alabama Symphony, opening for Bill Cosby, Red Skelton, Barbara Mandrel, Jeff Foxworthy, George Lindsey, Ray Stevens and many more top stars. Add in concerts for art councils, Chambers of Commerce, Landmark Theatres and city celebrations and you have a busy schedule for these veteran entertainers. Now after over 20,000 performances you have four entertaining guys who have learned their craft and enjoy sharing their talents with each new audience.

Another Town

Another Town is and exciting Bluegrass Band made up of seasoned musicians who have worked with some of the best Bluegrass touring acts such as Volume Five, Warrior River Boys, Hurricane Creek, and The Madison County Ramblers…. The Band is based on Traditional Bluegrass music with a modern fresh sound.

The Band Consist of Stacy Richardson on Mandolin from Tuscumbia AL. Adam Duke on Guitar from Cullman AL. Damion Kidd on Dobro from Athens AL. Russell Rollo on Bass from Bremen, AL and Anthony Bailey on Banjo from Cullman, AL.

Justin and Angelica Branum

Justin Branum is a fiddle/violin, viola, cello, mandolin, guitar, and bass player based out of the Nashville, TN area where he plays on recording sessions, does road dates, produces, and arranges music. Growing up playing western swing, bluegrass, country music and old-time fiddle tunes. He has played in various instrument contests and has won the Grand Master Fiddler Contest, National Fiddle Contest, Tennessee State Fiddle Championship, Tennessee State Mandolin Championship, and the Texas State Fiddle Championship among many others. Justin has played with a wide variety of bands and artists such as Son Volt, Johnny Bush, Pokey LaFarge, Bobby Flores and the Yellow Rose Band, Lee Ann Womack, Roland White, The Sons of the Pioneers, The Jim Hurst Trio, and Marty Haggard. Lately he has been a frequent guest on the Grand Ole Opry. He and his wife, Angelica, currently tour and play together.
